TN · In-state moves
Tennessee moving company rules
Tennessee has no mover-specific license. A for-hire motor carrier, including a mover, needs Intrastate Authority from the Tennessee Department of Revenue to haul property for pay on Tennessee highways, and must file proof of liability and cargo insurance. Tennessee's former rule on mover estimates and damage claims for in-state moves has been repealed.

Insurance or bond
Applicants for Intrastate Authority must have their insurer file Form E (bodily injury and property damage liability) and Form H (cargo), and Form H is required for carriers hauling household goods.

- A vehicle already filed under the Unified Carrier Registration Agreement does not also need Tennessee Intrastate Authority.
- New Intrastate Authority applicants must name a Tennessee agent who can accept court papers served on the carrier.
- The Division of Consumer Affairs runs an informal complaint mediation program.
