Louisiana moving company rules
Moves of household goods between two points in Louisiana are regulated by the Louisiana Public Service Commission. State law requires every in-state mover to hold a common carrier certificate from the Commission, carry cargo and workers' compensation insurance, and post a surety bond before doing any moving work. The Commission's Transportation Division investigates complaints, including complaints about uncertificated movers.

Estimates
Under a Commission general order, every customer has the right to a written estimate from a household goods mover. The customer may waive that right only if the waiver clearly tells the customer about the right to a written estimate.
Insurance or bond
La. R.S. 45:164(E) requires motor truck cargo insurance of at least $50,000 per truck and $100,000 per catastrophe, workers' compensation insurance, the other insurance the Commission sets, and a $5,000 surety bond filed with the Commission.
